Guest Speaker: Sr. Martha Zechmesiter Date: October 24th, 2013 Time: 7:00pm Location: The Mary Ward Centre, 70 St. Mary Street "El Salvador and its martyrs taught me that nobody can seriously seek God without struggling for a more just world. "To do justice for the poor and oppressed, this is truly to know God." (Jer 22:16) Nobody can "know God" without being open to His presence in the vulnerable and the disadvantaged; an openness which leads inevitably to activity and to conflict." Sr. Martha Zechmesiter is a professor of Theology at the Jesuit University, San Salvador. Prior to this, she was professor of Fundamental Theology and the University of Passau in Germany from 1999 to 2008. Born in Austria in 1956, Martha studied Theology in Vienna. Her main research interest included Political Theology, Latin-American Liberation Theology and Ignatian Spirituality. |
