1FOCUS: LEADERSHIP SKILLS FOR ADVOCACY

Who: 12 students (grades 10 - 12), and 1 - 2 teachers


1Focus is hosting a conference for leadership skills for advocacy in partnership with the TSCSB and the Mary Ward Centre.

At this workshop, students will have the chance to attend two out of four workshops listed below:


  • Networking Skills & Gaining a Mentor
  • Team Building Skills
  • Presentation & Public Speaking Skills
  • Interview Skills & Building your Brand

We are also providing a workshop for teachers on getting their students involved, and accessing needed resources.

STEEPED IN HISTORY: LEARNING FROM OUR SISTERS

We look forward to an opportunity to document your living history and celebrate your contributions to the IBVM community. Through the telling of your stories, you will provide meaningful mentorship for Loretto Abbey students. We celebrate this journey with afternoon tea on May 27th.

THE LOOKING ForWARD CONFERENCE

A Day of Mentorship in Action


Loretto students have the opportunity to engage in mentorship from women who are currently doing work in which they have the needs of the greater community in mind.  Students will learn from, dialogue with, and network with these women as a means to get to know what their own gifts are and how they can be used to do good.

THE EARTH CHARTER: VISION, ETHICS AND ACTIONS FOR A SUSTAINABLE AND PEACEFUL WORLD

SPEAKER SERIES: DIANE REDSKY

You are invited to hear Diane Redsky explain the 34 recommendations of the Nation Task Force on Sex Trafficking of Women and Girls in Canada

Diane Redsky is a nationally renowned native woman leader. She is Project Director for the Canadian Women's Foundation (CWF) and facilitated the National Task Force for the past two years.

She will discuss the 34 Recommendations of her committee to end sex trafficking as well as The Canadian Women's Foundation five-year Strategic Plan.
