At the Mary Ward Centre, we are thrilled to host the Wisdom Carriers Art Exhibition featuring Métis Algonquin artist and Knowledge Keeper, Diane Montreuil. This exhibition offers an opportunity to explore the vital call to care for our common home, echoing the spirit of Pope Francis' encyclical, Laudato Si'.
Laudato Si' is a powerful letter addressed to every person on the planet, urging a new dialogue about the future of our world. Pope Francis specifically calls for the voice of Indigenous peoples to be included. Diane, as a Knowledge Keeper, shares wisdom through her art, emphasizing the deep interconnectedness of all creation – a core theme in Laudato Si's concept of integral ecology.
Her work resonates with Laudato Si's recognition that nature is not separate from us, but we are part of it, in constant interaction. Diane's art helps people to respond to the encyclical's call for respecting the cultural riches of different peoples, including their art and spirituality. This exhibition of Canadian Indigenous art serves as a powerful catalyst for dialogue, reconciliation, and action towards ecological justice, acknowledging the link between environmental health and social well-being. Join us to experience this convergence of art, faith, and care for Creation. 🪶 🎨 🌱
