A massive event in the city brings excitement…
but it also creates opportunities for criminals to target youth through human trafficking and labour exploitation.
And it doesn’t take long — just a few minutes is enough.
Canada, the U.S., and Mexico will co-host the 2026 World Cup — one of the most-watched events in the world. It runs from June 11 to July 19, across 16 cities. Toronto and Vancouver will host 13 matches.
Safety starts with all of us. Be part of the movement to prevent human trafficking during major events like the 2026 World Cup

Labour exploitation at large events
This workshop helps students understand the risks of human trafficking during major events like the 2026 World Cup. With a short video and guided questions, teachers can start important conversations about safety and awareness.
Questions:
-
If a World Cup job offers double pay for 'no experience' and cash-only, why is it likely a trap?
-
How do traffickers use World Cup crowds and chaos to hide illegal working conditions?
These workshops are part of an initiative developed by ARISE Ministry and the Mary Ward Centre to support student awareness of human trafficking risks.
They are designed with major events, such as the 2026 World Cup, in mind, where increased activity and movement can present additional considerations for community safety.
