Pieces of the Puzzle: Understanding Exploitation on a Spectrum
Too often, the conversation around human trafficking is limited by narrow legal definitions—definitions that can exclude those who face severe exploitation but don't meet the threshold of being formally recognized as trafficking victims.
This full-day event brings together community members, advocates, and individuals with lived experience to explore the spectrum of exploitation—from illegal recruitment and fraud to abuse within Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Through interactive exercises, testimonial videos, art, and a powerful panel discussion, we will unpack what "human trafficking" really means, who gets left out of protections, and how precarious immigration status can limit access to justice and services.
Together, we will reflect on questions like:
How does the way we define trafficking shape who gets support—and who doesn't?
