Since May, we have been working with the OASIS Community Centre to build a strategy to prevent women from being victims of human trafficking and exploitation. We made a training program to avoid economic, financial and patrimonial gender-based violence (GBV) with Latin Women in Toronto and GTA who do not speak English and are not able to participate in other training proposals because of language barriers.
The goals are: (1) To create training spaces where Latin women can learn about their rights and how to protect them according to the Canadian legal system. (2) Prioritize GBV as a main topic to discuss and learn about, bringing information about the available services for women and newcomers and how to access them.
The training program consists of eight workshops, six virtual and two in person at MWC space. Twenty women will participate.
