As part of the strategy to raise awareness on labour exploitation happening inside Canada, at MWC, we had a private screening of the documentary, “The Canadian Dream” listening to Alberto Moreno, the protagonist, talking about his experience as a temporary migrant worker in a Canadian farm. Ilse Moreno, the film-maker, shares a dual perspective: as director of the short -documentary,l and as a daughter of Alberto.
It was an excellent opportunity learning from their voices and experiences and the event also created a space for connecting many voices: the Mexican Council of Protection, Legal Affairs and the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP), The Executive Director of The Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking, the Director of St. Lorenzo Community Centre and CHHA Radio Latina in Toronto (our partner doing the monthly radio broadcast connecting with Latin America to prevent people from being victims of human trafficking, smuggling and labour exploitation.
