Preventing Labour Exploitation Through Outreach and Education
The Mary Ward Centre’s work with migrant workers is closely connected to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 1: No Poverty, and SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. These goals reinforce the importance of protecting migrant workers’ rights, promoting safe and fair working conditions, reducing inequalities, and improving access to essential health and social supports.

Supporting Migrant Workers in the Niagara Region
On March 29, 2026, the Mary Ward Centre visited farms in the Niagara region, connecting with Latin American temporary migrant workers on vegetable and flower farms.
It was a day grounded in listening. We heard stories, experiences, and, importantly, questions. Many workers shared ongoing uncertainties about their rights—both in their home countries and here in Canada—even after years of participation in the program.
