Supporting Migrant Workers in the Niagara Region

On March 29, 2026, the Mary Ward Centre visited farms in the Niagara region, connecting with Latin American temporary migrant workers on vegetable and flower farms.

It was a day grounded in listening. We heard stories, experiences, and, importantly, questions. Many workers shared ongoing uncertainties about their rights—both in their home countries and here in Canada—even after years of participation in the program. We will hold an informative session on migrant workers’ rights on April 2, featuring migrant workers from three different farms.

These conversations are essential. Access to clear information, awareness of rights, and meaningful support are critical to preventing labour exploitation and upholding the dignity of every person.

At The Mary Ward Centre, we are deeply grateful for the trust, openness, and resilience of the workers we encountered. Their contributions are vital—not only to the Canadian economy, but to the well-being of Canadians. And, we remain committed to walking alongside migrant workers through education, advocacy, and awareness. Guided by our mission, we continue working toward a future where every worker is informed, protected, and respected.
