Easter message from the Mary Ward Centre
What Easter means to me? I believe that you cannot separate the Resurrection from the Passion and the Crucifixion.
They all belong in one package. And to me, Jesus’s Passion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection reveal the core principle at the heart of all reality: that there’s life after death. First, things are destroyed, and then new life is brought into being.

Supporting Migrant Workers in the Niagara Region
On March 29, 2026, the Mary Ward Centre visited farms in the Niagara region, connecting with Latin American temporary migrant workers on vegetable and flower farms.
It was a day grounded in listening. We heard stories, experiences, and, importantly, questions. Many workers shared ongoing uncertainties about their rights—both in their home countries and here in Canada—even after years of participation in the program.

Mary Ward was born in England in 1585 at a time when Catholics were persecuted and women were expected to marry or join a cloistered convent.
Yet Mary Ward followed God’s call to journey inward and outward, choosing a different way to live out her faith and vocation — one that transformed the lives of many and still does so today with the legacy of her wondrous work.

For those of us who identify as followers of Mary Ward, this involves more than changing some of our habits or the brands we buy in the supermarket. Stepping out of our comfort zone - based on the charism of Mary Ward, a woman who walked across Europe to serve her Sisters/friends, challenged the ecclesiastical hierarchy of her time, and was imprisoned for it - definitely involves much more.

Called By Name
From a very young age Mary Ward felt a divine calling to do something special in the world. It took her many years to discern exactly what God was calling her to do. Many outer voices interfered through out her life, but once she perceived and embraced God’s inner call, she remained steadfast and her legacy lives on.
