Easter message from the Mary Ward Centre

So you asked me what Easter means to me. Well, I believe that you cannot separate the Resurrection from the Passion and the Crucifixion.
They all belong in one package. And to me, Jesus’s Passion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection reveal the core principle at the heart of all reality: that there’s life after death. First, things are destroyed, and then new life is brought into being.
It also reveals to me that our God is not somewhere out there observing all this suffering and passion, but has boldly placed Himself in the very center of this principle that lies at the heart of all reality.
And the story of the Resurrection is not just Jesus’s story that happened two thousand years ago. It’s the story of the cosmos. It’s the death of a star that gives way to a galaxy. It’s the story of you and me. Wow. And it tells us that death cannot be avoided or escaped. But don’t worry.
What we’re promised is that it will be transformed eternally. Death does not have the last word. Eternal life does. And that is very good news. And so we naturally say, hallelujah. Hallelujah.
